Blood Sugar Management

What is Blood Sugar?

Glucose is the main source of energy our body uses and every cell relies on it to function perfectly.  Blood sugar we are referring to is glucose in the blood. When we eat carbohydrates, or anything, our body breaks them down into units of glucose. When blood glucose levels increase, cells in the pancreas releases insulin, signalling cells to take up glucose from the blood, as the cells absorb sugar from the blood levels starts to decrease.

However, eating too many carbohydrates, particularly simple sugars, is harmful to blood sugar control, especially when we are insulin resistant, experience reactive hypoglycaemia or also are diabetic. Carbohydrate excess, especially consuming too many refined carbohydrates, has also been related with high risk of obesity, heart disease and some forms of cancer.

The new recommendations of the World Health Organisation (WHO) are that only 5% of your daily calorie intake should consist of added, or 'free' sugars. This equates to approximately five-six teaspoons (25g) for women and seven-eight teaspoons (35g) for men.

However, our Indian diet and various consumption habits and our sedentary lifestyles has wreaked havoc on our life leading to various lifestyle diseases and the most potent silent killer is diabetes in India.

We recommend good amount of exercise and good balanced diet with Supplements from mother nature and Ayurveda knowledge base brought to you by vitaminhaat in India.
